The wireless earphones and the MacBook Pro are now sold out on Apple’s website, and a pair of them for $399.99 are also gone.
In its second quarter earnings call on Thursday, Apple said it lost $1.6bn on sales of $2.6tn, which was a year-on-year decline of 9%.
Sales of Apple’s wireless earpieces were $3.9bn in the first quarter of this year, and they were expected to grow this year.
But the loss of the Beats deal has caused a dramatic fall in sales of the headphones and other accessories, which were sold out in a matter of days in September, and have been on a steady decline since.
According to research firm Kantar Worldpanel ComTech, the decline in sales was about 25% compared to the same period last year, although analysts were sceptical about Apple’s claim.
The company’s sales were up 2.6% in the quarter, which includes the Apple Watch, but it lost another 7% in Q2 of 2017.
The headphones were a key selling point for Apple, and it was likely that the sales decline will force the company to restructure its wireless ear products.
